Walk the Working Waterfront would not be possible without collaboration of the local business and working waterfront individuals. All of whom share in the same goal of educating the public on what life on historic Commercial Street waterfront is like.

Coast guard vessel tour and water safety demo
Wright's Wharf
The Pirates and poachers never stood a chance! Executing operational missions from Maine, New Hampshire, and Northeastern New York, the Northern New England sector of the Coast Guards area of responsibility ranges over 5,000 miles of coastline and 11,000 square nautical miles of water. Bring the kids and come step on the U.S. Coast Guard vessel and learn how to stay safe on the ocean! Fun for all ages!

Ever wonder who oversees and directs all the marine operations in and out of the harbor on a daily basis? It’s the Harbor Master! Come tour his boat, talk water safety, and meet Portland’s own Harbor Master, Kevin Battle! He's an incredibly friendly guy who'll also give you tips on how you can enjoy Casco Bay safely!

LUKE'S LOBSTER BUYING STATION TOUR

Ever wonder how a lobster goes from the shell to the roll? Join the Luke’s Lobster team for a tour of their facility at the end of pier and learn about their buying station, the lobster industry, and chat sea. After, feel free to enjoy some of the best views of the harbor Portland has to offer.

FREE GUIDED HISTORICAL WALKING TOUR

Join City of Portland Waterfront Coordinator Bill Needleman for his world renowned guided historical walking tours. Bill will be departing at 12:00PM and 2:00PM. Each tour will be limited to 30 people. This is a first come, first serve walking tour. Stop by and sign up!

PORTLAND FIREBOAT TOUR
MAINE STATE PIER
Every child wanted to be a fireman at some point! Bring the kids and come take a close look at the Portland fireboat and hear from the people who help the residents and visitors of Casco Bay stay safe. Note: it is possible the team will have to respond to emergencies in the bay.

Rocky BOttom tours
PORTLAND PIER
Bring the kids and take a stroll down Portland Pier and visit the folks at Rocky Bottom Tours. Stick around for one of their lobster trap demonstrations by the F/V Wild Duck. Try your hand out at some trivia, or buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win some Rocky Bottom Tours merchandise!

RUGGED SEAS
Maine made. Ocean tough. Rugged Seas goal is to take something that represents every fishery—fisherman’s hauling pants (bibs)—and turn them into something recognizable, for everyone to utilize and enjoy. Collaborating with local fisherman and local organizations, Rugged Seas
